He guaranteed that they should attempt to go through cash within their locale to assist it with flourishing and keep it from turning into a ghetto or a ghetto. He contrasted their circumstance commonly with when America was first beginning and how they needed to battle for their opportunity from Britain.Malcolm X discussed Patrick Henry and how he stated, ââ¬Å"Give me freedom or give me deathâ⬠and was stating that they have to support what they need. This imp lied they would either get what they requested or they would need to battle for it.In Malcolm Xââ¬â¢s discourse he tended to various expository techniques to pass on his message to the individuals of Harlem. One way the speaker endeavored to influence his crowd to feel the way that he did was by telling the individuals that he was taught about how the white individuals felt when they were stifled by Britain. The white individuals of the time were being burdened without portrayal. He realized who Patrick Henry was and how he would ascend and state ââ¬Å"Liberty or deathâ⬠which is the identical to what Malcolm Xââ¬â¢s trademark was, polling form or the bullet. He said that, the announcement ââ¬Å"Liberty or deathâ⬠acquired opportunity to the white individuals this nation and that in the event that they could do it, so might he be able to and his supporters. He likewise discussed how he knew the new ages of individuals of color in this nation didnââ¬â¢t care how f ar the chances were against them; they needed to battle for their privileges to be equivalents to the white individuals of America. They would disregard the chances by and large until they had prevailing in what they have come to do.Later, Malcolm utilizes feeling to communicate as the need should arise to his crowd when he discusses how America right presently could be the main spot to have had a bloodless insurgency by basically surrendering to what the dark populace needed and give them their social equality. He said that generally you arenââ¬â¢t in a position where you love your adversary yet here is where they love America however just might want to be treated as equivalents alongside the remainder of the population.Malcolm likewise said that Uncle Sam was the one that made this issue in any case and heading off to his court anticipating that him should fix the issue would do literally nothing since he is the crook and he is the one that should be fixed. Somewhat later he di scusses how Afro-American holy places are being besieged, young ladies getting killed, and pioneers of the dark populace getting shot with no attempt at being subtle. He inquires as to why this isnââ¬â¢t being brought to the UN when such things that occur in different nations go straightforwardly to the UN. At that point Malcolm says that it is their chance to take their case to the UN.He says that there he will have the help of every extraordinary ethnicity, including the 800 million Chinese individuals out there. Malcolm likewise discusses how Uncle Sam can stand up and speak to himself as the pioneer of the free world when he is abusing the human privileges of more than 22 million Afro-Americans. Malcolm utilized various strategies to attempt to get his emotions across to his crowd yet they all were coordinated towards a similar reason; to attempt to get the social equality of the dark populace in America at that point. This attempted to a certain extent, it got individuals al l exasperated up to battle for their common rights. He first discussed how when America was first beginning they didnââ¬â¢t like it when their social equality were smothered and that the Afro-Americans feel a similar way they need their privileges. At that point Malcolm discusses how this unrest doesnââ¬â¢t need to incorporate any passing as long as America tunes in to the dark networks demands. He purposes that the time has come to go to the UN and have them help sort this out with the assistance of different nations. He summarizes his entire discourse in four words and those words are ââ¬Å"ballot or the bulletâ⬠they will get what they need or they will battle for it. Answers: 1. Utilization of Materiality to Financial Statements AASB 1031 characterizes the term Material, it expresses that oversight or misquote of things which could by exclusively or by aggregately can impact the monetary choice of the clients of budget reports, and it relies upon the size and nature of the explanation which was either discarded during arrangement of fiscal summary or was misquoted (Altiero, Kang Peecher, 2013). This standard endorses the progressions to be made in the fiscal reports which were precluded or misquoted at the hour of its arrangement. Figure 1 : Method of Analyzing Materiality (Source: Cameron, 2014) Highlights of Materiality Reliance: It can legitimately correlateto the volume and nature of the business. In the event that the volume of business is enormous, at that point there is apossibility that the fiscal report might be substantially misquoted and the other way around. This part for the most part deals with the use of the idea of materiality for the fiscal summaries. Essential Tool for making adecision: Preparation of Financial Statements requires some choice, and these choices are helped through materiality idea. It helps the clients of monetary data to take better choices and to best of their advantage. It improves the estimation of data (EcclesKrzus, 2014). This standard guarantees and encourages both interior and outer clients of an association. Protections Complete and Fair Statements: Application of this standard guarantees that explanations which were important to be remembered for the fiscal reports have been incorporated or havent been discarded. Gives Guidance: It directs the bookkeepers on theacceptable constraint of blunders and exclusions in the Financial Statements. There is constantly a negligible hazard which is consistently there in the budget summaries (Singh Peters, 2015). A material error or exclusion can lead the financial specialist to take an off-base choice or not in best of his advantage. The way where idea of materiality is applied in fiscal summaries The idea of materiality is significantly applied while taking adecision identifying with activities of different divisions of theorganisation. The deciding component for learning the materialness of materiality is the sum and nature of therelative thing. On the off chance that the change exists after the assurance of conveying theamount of thing, materiality idea is applied as per the sum. The estimation of the thing assumes apivotal job in finding out the idea of change or remedy. Now and again, circumstances emerge in which idea of materiality is applied as per the idea of theitem (EcclesKrzus, 2014). The equivalent is done in thecase when constrained assets are accessible for allotment to different partners on the grounds that in this sort of circumstance materiality is applied as per the idea of theparticular thing. Another circumstance, where idea is applied in thesame way is when the executives needs to take adecision identifying with working exercises of the association. Relevance of materiality in regards to a specific thing can be controlled by contrasting and: Class of risk or advantage for which the specific thing relates. The sum which is given in Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet of the element. Figure 2 : Steps in applying materiality in review (Source : Eilifsen Messier 2014) Assessment of materiality in Financial Statements AASB 1031 determines the arrangements identifying with material and unimportant data. According to the norm, a sum more prominent or equivalent to 10% of thesuitable base can attempt to be material. Notwithstanding, on the off chance that if a sum is less or equivalent to five percent of thesuitable base than the equivalent is considered as unimportant. The idea of materiality determines the sum identifying with an individual thing just as acumulative thing to the degree to which mistake is worthy. The measure of precision required for theascertainment of theapproximate sum is additionally determined in AASB 1031. The choice in regards to the materiality is taken by evaluator in the wake of assessing the nature and measure of specific thing. 2. Fundamental issue for inspectors Large Data A companys gigantic unstructured and machine-generateddata can be said as large information. This sort of information likewise incorporates the outer data accessible outside business limits. Enormous information is a crucial change in the process through which review of an organization is attempted. Suitable evaluation of monetary records, extortion and review chance has been made empowered byBig dataand investigation for the evaluator. Effective fuse of huge information and examination into review is confronted with avariety ofobstaclewhich acts asbarriers for the equivalent (Vera-Baqueroet.al.,2015). One of the significant worries for inspectors in theintegration of enormous information is information catching. Numerous organizations won't give their temporary information since they are worried towards the assurance and security of information. Acquisition of sub-record data of significant business forms is required for holding onto Big Data as it is important for thevarious busine ss reason. Along these lines, the trouble in extraction of information and the measure of information to be handled is expanded. Different parts of business methodology and exercises identified with review are influenced by the effect of Big Data. Inside hazard the executives and administration of dataneed to be asked by the review office. Approval of accessible sources empowers the examiners to make reasonable ends from the accessible information. Customary review methods were out of date to find out contemporary business irregularities andpotential dangers. In circumstances where the information to be prepared is huge and the time span is restricted, traditional methods neglect to determine the issues. Along these lines Big Data has fundamentally improved the systems of examining in this way improving interior control. Consistent checking is not, at this point an unpredictable errand (Griffith, 2015). Start to finish programming reconciliation This procedure alludes to finishing a whole life pattern of theaudit. These systems incorporate evaluation of dangers, detailing of standard plans identified with review and planning of review report. A significant issue looked by the evaluator of any organization is getting data with respect to starting and finish of theparticular work. This improves the danger of poor ends being attracted the absence of information. A coordinated system of confirmation must be created by theauditor to get, audit and survey, lastly console the created program. Productive appraisal of the changed program ought to be attempted by the reviewer. According to the investigation of Patterson (2013), this helps with adjusting the key hazard regions in the business; subsequently important hindrances can be settled. Engaging in the technique for anend to end incorporation of programming includes an incentive in the entire procedure review process. Be that as it may, the equivalent is center issue that is looked by the examiner as they can't find out the strategy through which they can get developed in it. As per Glover, Prawitt Messier (2014),continuous breaking down of review life cycle is a productive method of settling the predefined issue. The issue can likewise be settled by building up anapproach to hazard driven confirmation in program conveyance. The accompanying advances must be sought after by the examiner for reassuringthat the supposition gave is dependable and exact to the association: Engaging in the process from the earlier stages and understanding the hazard the executives technique program. Looking at the current degree of affirmation and hotspot for the advancement of three lines of model can fill this need. Advancement of incorporated moving arrangement ought to be accomplished for affirmation. Detailing system must be completely acknowledged. Program for keeping up and coordinating affirmation plan must be created. 3. Nature of troublesome dangers The ongoing changes that are being looked by the organizations have purchased in key dangers to them. The change has additionally prompted on evaluators to consider such patterns to meet the authoritative reason and meet the exclusive standards from their jobs. With the uncommon move of progress, it has made a commitment on review councils to continually stay in transition and watchful about the overall changes inside the earth. The dangers are probably going to make disturbances influencing the way wherein organizations outline their money related systems and activities (Unegbuand Kida, 2011). The idea of interruption has augmented and substantially affects the review boards. The disturbances are distinguished in that and the manner by which review board of trustees see them and oversee such patterns help in meeting the desire for the association just as partners. The onus on inspectors has been expanded, and the measures it can take to exceed the developing dangers are as per the f ollowing: Figure 3: Risk Based Quality Audit (Source: Ghafran O'Sullivan, 2013) Innovative Risks: The mechanical disturbances are regularly observed as one of the difficult power for the review advisory group motivation. It is significant that the examiners keep a sufficient information on innovation and the board passes on the experience about the impact of progress. As per Miller Skinner (2015), one of the most common dangers distinguished inside the innovation is Cyber Security Risk as with picking up propels the digital Clara Lyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05448938493762949369noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8311205278653016994.post-4495168950219836512020-08-21T15:44:00.001-07:002020-08-21T15:44:27.032-07:00What it Means to be a Global Citizen Essay ExampleBeing a Global Citizen Essay There is in fact an excess of decent variety in our present reality. however, there are many factors in the present that contribute to the risk.à Historical trauma within the Native American community often leads to resulting in unresolved grief, inability to practice cultural traditions, and feeling oppressed (Brown, Dickerson, DAmico, 2016).à These are all major risk factors that have affected members of the community in the past, and they continue to impact the community members currently.à The unresolved grief is a large problem for the community because it limits their ability to accept their culture and be proud of who they are.à They also are unable to feel and grieve properly for things that were lost, including family members and traditional practices.à The lack of proper grieving makes it hard for current members of the Native American community to enjoy all aspects of their culture.à Without culture, there is a lack of identity that contributes to risk within the community.à à à à à à à à Many risk factors have to do with childhood.à In the past, children were removed from their communities and were moved into places outside of their homes (Brown, Dickerson, DAmico, 2016).à Moving out of community meant that kids were given to new parents and often felt unloved.à The children also noticed when drinking increased, which led to them using different substances to cope at an early point in life (Patterson, Adely, Duran, Dulmus, Manning, 2014).à This early start of substance abuse made it harder to break the habit as time goes on.à Removing kids from their community takes away the chance of forming family bonds, which is an important part of eliminating risk factors (Brown, Dickerson, DAmico, 2016).à Being taken away from their own families and being introduced to alcohol early makes it hard for cycles to break and can make it hard for subsequent generations (Myhra, 2011).à There are many risk factors within the Native Am erican community when it comes to substance abuse.à Most of these factors stem from the past and have a continuing presence in the community.à à à à à Resiliency in the Community à à à à à à à Despite the many risk factors, there are a few ways that the community finds resilience; most of these ways revolve around culture and the community that is found within a culture.à One of the most effective ways is the restoration of cultural and spiritual practices.à These practices can promote proper grieving for past and present losses (Debruyn, 1998).à Being able to grieve allows room for acceptance of the past and a path toward change in the future.à One of the main reasons that substance abuse occurs is because of the shame that is felt about their culture, which takes away from personal identity.à Activities like reconnecting with family and community can provide a space for support and motivation.à Seeing other people who are making progress with substance abuse problems can be inspiring to others who are struggling (Myhra, 2011).à Resiliency can be hard, especially when it comes to addiction; however, events like traditional practices can provide healing.à Promoting a stronger sense of community and culture can help distance the desire to use substances.à With a solid bond between community members, it can be easier to share stories of loss and grief.à Hearing and sharing other narratives can help lift the weight of the past because of the verbal confessions and emotional catharses.à Counseling sessions are a way that the community can go about this.à Having time to talk with community members can help with getting treatment and healing (Patterson, Adely, Duran, Dulmus, Manning, 2014).à Regaining many of the lost cultural pieces supports the healing and resilience in the Native American communities.à à à à à à à à Treatment for Substance Abuse within Native American Community à à à à à à à Getting treatment is important, but it is even more important that the Native American community gets proper treatment that can promote healing.à One of the most promising ideas for treatments is fostering appreciation for the culture.à This can be done a number of ways, and incorporating and bringing back traditional ceremonies is an effective way.à Having customary practices back in place gives the community a way to start healing through appreciation of their culture and the ability to talk about shared pain (Brown, Dickerson, DAmico, 2016).à With the growth of appreciating culture and restoration of many traditions, it is also important to create new practices.à Issues with substance abuse has been plaguing this population for a long time, so it is important that they are able to create new community goals that can help combat temptations, like using alcohol as a coping method (Myhra, 2011).à Working toward sobriety can be hard, but with the support of a community, there are ways that it is achievable.à The Native American population could take advantage of their group dynamic by introducing activities that would encourage healthier choices (Brown, Dickerson, DAmico, 2016).à Activities that endorse beneficial lifestyle changes could be put to use on weekends or celebrations when the urge to use alcohol might be stronger.à Doing this would help all members of the community who are struggling with substance abuse, but it would also be a great way to be role models for younger generations and discourage the use of alcohol as a method of managing stress.à Encouraging community groups to interact with one another is important because many of the youths have felt disconnected from their culture, which causes a delayed interest in traditions. Another treatment path that would be beneficial is the practice of brining the past to the present.à This may be hard for many community members because the past has been filled with many traumatic experiences, which have been passed down over the years (Brown, Dickerson, DAmico, 2016).à However, being able to talk about the past can help bring a sense of healing (Patterson, Adely, Duran, Dulmus, Manning, 2014).à It is important that the group does not feel that the past is a reflection of themselves.à The Native American community has experienced years of shame for their culture, which is damaging.à Being able to recognize that as historical oppression is crucial because it takes away the sense of personal failure.à Conclusion The Native American community has had many struggles in their past that continue to affect their lives today.à Substance abuse is a heavy outcome of the historic trauma that the population has experienced.à Because of the harsh treatment in the past, the group of people have many risk factors that make using alcohol an easy way to cope with the past.à Despite having gone through many hardships and being normalized to the use of alcohol, there are ways that the Native American community can slowly recover.à Focusing on resiliency is a part of the process, and there are specific ways that can facilitate healing.à à Works Cited Brown, R. Background: OTIS was a market leader in both the aspects of elevator industry i. e. sales and services. However, the services industry despite being very stable had become very competitive due to entrance of many small players since services involved higher margin on profits, which attracted many entrants in the field. An elevator service company would be typically invited on the basis of responsiveness, quality and price. OTIS was able to charge premium for its products because of its established name but it had to maintain the quality and customer satisfaction high to get new installation contracts (more sales) and service contracts. It all started for OTIS with a companywide cost reduction program in 1981. Key reasons for the program were: 1. A centralized customer service system was deemed desirable because getting new contracts would only be adjudged based on through responsive call-backs by the company. 2. Reduction of response time whic h only a centralized system would make possible to do. A centralized system would enable the company to accept calls even during non primetime. This didnââ¬â¢t work efficiently for the company through local answering services due to non alignment of interests. 3. Get timely feedbacks from the customers on service quality. 4. More aligned cost effective solution was needed. 5. The response on call-backs till now varied across locations and it was felt to make it more effective to enhance customer satisfaction, the company needed to be more effective across all locations. 6. Of the 2300 service mechanics employed by NAO in 1985, most handled both call-backs and preventive maintenance. According to NAO OTIS could save up to $5 million by reducing call-backs which centralized system could make possible achieve Q2: How was value created in this model? OTISLINE proved to be greatly beneficial to the company in terms of following value propositions- 1. Responsiveness: Fact: Reduce d response time to up to 1 second, enabled component specific problems to be tackled and increased visibility of the company to end customers. Implication: The system not only improved and tracked the responsiveness to customer calls, but also provided reports of response-time tatistics that could be reviewed with customers. The company could therefore start offering a guaranteed response time to customers because of OTISLINEââ¬â¢s capabilities. 2. Communication: Fact: Quality of services also improved owing to centralization of the system. This was made possible through centralized records accessible to all, hence improving overall efficiency of the system. Implication: Not only it improved communication between the customers and manufacturer, but it also provided the sales and service department with an effective submission of various reports to the management. . Reliability of data: Fact: Standardization of procedures through efficient data management. This enabled trend analy sis for flawed designs of products and corrective mechanisms to tackle it in advance. Integration of services enabled management to be able to handle and monitor the system in a better way and work to make it more reliable. Implication: Reliability data could be used by management to allocate resources to locations with recurring problems. Engineering could also investigate trends that could be an indicator of flawed design or problem. 4. Customer Satisfactions: All the above lead to greater customer satisfaction and thus improved companyââ¬â¢s reputation in services. Also it empowered Otis to compete with independent competitors. Q2: What adjustments in the organization were needed to accommodate OTISLINE? In order that OTISLINE proves to be a good fit satisfying strategic need and delivering successful outcomes, the critical thing is to have an appropriate infrastructure and to employ a good implementation process. One of the very important ways to provide this environment i s by transforming the organizational structure from a decentralized one to a centralized centre. This transformation is bound to have a positive effect on performance, but at the same time it would bring a variety of negative effects on many peoples jobs. Otis had to move from a highly decentralized handling of elevator service, controlled by the field office managers, to a highly centralized approach. Many of the immediate and future benefits of OTISLINE follow from this radical change, which was not just a redesign of the business process of dispatching, but a transformation of managerial control within the firm. Centralized handling of services mean, replacing local dispatchers with new ones at the central site. For mechanics, the improved dispatching will make their lives better in some ways, but it will also subject their performance to greater monitoring. Also, field office managers may find themselves bypassed as service data would directly flow to corporate headquarter s, which will start to liaise in local service operations. So, the consequences for people in the organization are going to be very mixed. Also, some changes have to be introduced both on technical front also. This changes involve migration of one computer platform to other; including IBM 3083 replacing IBM 370/158, change in programming requirements, change in functionality of jobs, which could possibly leave certain professionals obsolete in new environment. In short, we can conclude on the cultural front, the major changes involve shifting of resources to establish new helpful systems rather than application development resources to automate old manual procedures. The organization is changing the way it required its employees to do business. Slate Fresno Pacific University NURS/310 August 27, 2012 Brenda Laing, R.N., M.S.N., F.N.P. Abstract ââ¬Å"Nursing theories are the creative products of nurses who seek (or sought) to thoughtfully describe the many aspects of nursing in ways that could be studied, evaluated, and used by other nurses. Theories provide structure and order for guiding and improving professional practice, teaching and learning activities, and research.â⬠(Sitzman, 2011) In this paper I will explore nursing theories. I will examine my own personal nursing philosophy based on reading of theorists, personal values and my own personal experiences. Everyone has values, ideas, and beliefs that are unique and differentâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦I always wanted to help others and make them feel good. Compassion is a nursing quality that impacts patient care. Next I would like to discuss knowledge, as it is a central issue of professional accountability. Nursing knowledge enables us to justify actions or to stop unsafe or poor practice. Nursing knowledge can mean the difference of life and deat h for some patients. ââ¬Å"Nurses are the unsung teachers of young doctors. In their book Clinical Wisdom and Interventions in Acute and Critical Care, authors Patricia Benner, Patricia Hooper Kyriakidis and Daphne Stannard, all nurses and researchers, describe cases of nurses pointing out to medical interns and residents the warning signs of a patientââ¬â¢s deterioration, correcting their misinterpretations of signs and symptoms, suggesting diagnoses, and anticipating when and how to intervene.â⬠(Gottlieb, 2012). The need to continue to build on the education of nurses is cardinal in the transforming of the health-care system. Barney and Friends and Arthur are trapped in my Saturday morning childhood memory. Those television characters were my only friends. I talked to them, and they laughed and cried with me; they understood. I always felt different from the other children my age. Maybe it was my home life; my father was in and out of rehab or jail, while my mother was a shift worker at Kodak. I was often left alone to fend for myself. Frankly, I soon began to question my ability to value another human beings friendship. In second grade I was transferred over to the Rochester City School District, where I was isolated from the other children during reading time to help with my learning disadvantages. Moreover, I attended a speech class, which further separated me from my classmates. Out of the blue, the week before Thanksgiving break a little girl said hi to me. The feeling of importance and acknowledgement warmed my heart. I smiled nonstop for the rest of the day replaying the encounter. That following weekend I saw her again walking her dog, only to discover she lived two houses down from me. Her name was Alexis. Alexis was a classmate in my little brother Garyââ¬â¢s kindergarten class. Once the awkward helloââ¬â¢s paseed, we discovered we enjoyed each otherââ¬â¢s company. For hours we could talk about television shows, board games, dolls, and our pets. And so my friendship with Alexis grew as we journeyed through elementary school and weathered those sometimes less than peasant years through middle school. Her presence was welcomed into my family. She was so smart for her age and began to help me in my classes. By the end of fourth grade I was allowed to stop my sessions in speech class. Later in sixth grade I was placed in MAP for academic advancement. She pushed me for academic success, and for that I thank her. Her friendship allowed me to see my own potential, which lead to my being twice recognized as an Early Black Scholar and seeing ,my name routinely on the Honor Role, as well as participation in the FTC Robotics League, Math League, and the Vice President of the Yearbook Committee. Looking back my friendship with Alexis seemed destined, two individuals whose personalities and interests seamlessly meshed at the right conjuncture. A casual hallway greeting was transformative, leading to boundless hours of shared laughter and long conversations about everything and nothing, eleven years and counting. Answer: Introduction Malaysian media has for many times throughout the last few years made public the poor condition of English as a language among the Sarawak students and especially University Students. The lack of proper knowledge of English has not only contributed to the poor employment rates but also created a situation where students are not able to use the language properly. Sarawak is one of the two islands of Borneo, Malaysia. The Sarawak state has a diverse ethnicity and also language. There are people from different cultures, ethnicities that live and work in Sarawak. After being under the influence of Japan and later allowed to self-govern itself, it was a powerful state in Malaysia. The Bruneian Malays and both the British and the Chinese have immense influence on the culture of Sarawak. (Company, 2003) The state has a high urban population which allows more growth and better education but there are not less than forty sub divisional ethnic groupings who exhibit their own culture and lifestyle as well. The main reason the English language has seen a steady decrease which has been highlighted many times in the recent years are a result of various reasons which include a lack of technical abilities, the bad attitude of teachers who are designated to teach the language, Inadequate knowledge of the language . Also some students have said that they face difficulty while shifting between the mediums and that the evaluation system is outdated.(Geertz, 2003). The issue is almost always associated with the process used by teachers to teach their students. The students are however another reason why students are not really interested in learning the language as well. The students own perception of how well they can learn the subject is another reason for the success or failure of the students to learn the language.(Kamaruddin, 2015). The different cultures and the different languages make English learning a tough matter for students of Sarawak. The main problem faced by the Student of Sarawak is the problem that they are not taught English from their lower classes which make them nervous while learning it in high school or at the university. Students fail to understand the teachings and are unable to understand the directions as well. The difference with the students who know English well enough and a Sarawak student is that they both might have the great knowledge but the Sarawak Student will find it harder to understand the directions as well as talk and reply back in English. While everyday work like taking a bus or the cab does not necessitate the need for learning English for a Sarawak student but being in a course that requires you to understand and evaluate matters in English will bring about a problem for the Sarawak student. Henceforth, owing to its debilitating outcome, the researchers felt a study examining aspects of learners affective Aspect such as anxiety on English language outcome would be of paramount benefit (Daud, 2005). Methods A fact that has been widely reported by the media is that the students of Malaysia are poor in English and that even the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) has also explained that less students are getting certificates for English and the soft skills are indicating poor acquisition of English as a communicative language as well as employers reactions nationwide. Even the Minister of Education himself was baffled over continued poor standards of English in the country(Dumanig, 2012). Other than instructor related factors mentioned earlier, students attitude, limited exposure and opportunity to use English in their daily conversation also posed as deterrent from acquiring sufficient competency. It is also reported in more recent research that acquiring a new language is a difficult aspect of learning. The students are often seen to experience anxiety with language. The students also find that they are unable for learning or understanding the language. It used a newly self-develop ed questionnaire constructed primarily based on Youngs (1991) and Oxfords (1999) theory of potential sources of language anxiety. Since language anxiety can meddle with the securing, maintenance and creation of a language , the analysts trust better comprehension of how it sways on learning is urgent if students somehow managed to be turned out to be better English language users has been inspected by Horwitz et al. (1986) that remote or second language anxiety concerns execution assessment inside a scholarly and social setting, hence it is valuable to draw parallels amongst it and three related execution tensions, which are correspondence dread, test anxiety and trepidation of negative assessment. Albeit open worry, test anxiety and trepidation of negative assessment give valuable theoretical building squares to a portrayal of outside or second language anxiety, also different authors recommended that remote or even the second language increases anxiety among students. They conside red remote or second language anxiety as an unmistakable(Sarawak,Save , 2013) Results From the writing, various contributing components to anxiety in English language learning were distinguished. The components were classified into two primary builds, in particular individual (beginning inside or from inside an individual) and interpersonal (the connection between a person with others/his surroundings) variables. Things speaking to every builds were further separated into a few sub-develops. Notwithstanding decide the effect of distinguished variables on anxiety, the analysts were additionally intrigued to see whether there were different reasons for anxiety that were not found out some time recently. It can be said that both individual and interpersonal elements do add to language anxiety among the exploration members. It is to some degree shocking however that none of the meeting members resounded intensity as the reason for their anxiety(Sabah, 2014). A conceivable clarification is that they would not have any desire to be seen as making a decent attempt to measure up to others' standard. In any case, it was evident from their verbal reactions that absence of certainty has critical effect on their English competency. In the interim, the following two causal elements of anxiety were outer in nature(MohamadMahathir, 2010). Plainly verbal and composed associations amongst educator and students additionally make anxiety, especially when students are in perspective that the teachers anticipate that they will be capable in English. This situation turns out to be more basic if the educator is seen as having certain judgments on students. The connection between the problems of students because of language anxiety also proposes that there are numerous potential sources originating from the understudy, the teacher and the instructional methodology which have noteworthy effect to the second language learning. Subsequently, utilizing the discoveries blended from the works of Young (1991) and Oxford (1999), this present study has inferred five wellsprings of language anxiety that will be further examined, to be specific individual and interpersonal tensions, students' convictions about language learning, teacher students' connections, classroom techniques (i.e. exercises and techniques) and test anxiety while barring educator convictions on language gaining from the first rundown(Jumaat,Diterbitkan, 2015). In this manner, in developing the clarification of self-recognitions, convictions, feeling and practices further, Young (1991; as referred to in Ohata, 2005) proposes a widely inclusive rundown of the potential wellsprings of language anxiety through a survey of the writing about language anxiety. It is important to note that taking in, educator's convictions about language instructing, teacher students' cooperations, classroom methods, and language testing. Notwithstanding, Ohata (2005) included that the sources recorded by Young covers with Horwitz et al's. (1986) three execution tensions, to be specific correspondence trepidati on, apprehension of negative assessment and testing anxiety, however the classifications recorded by Young is still worth looking at in light of the fact that the sources are tending to other basic issues that may underlie or influence the arrangement of students' language anxiety(Suliman, 2014). The problems associated with the learning of English by students of Malay origin are their lack of grammar knowledge, the lack of feelings for learning. They also experience an extensive uneasy feeling for the uneasiness for the learning. The second language is required to be used for learning, which makes it important to learn it in depth without just learning for commutation purpose. There are personal factors which determine the feelings and apprehensions experienced by the students. The anxiety levels experienced by the students do depend on their social status their use of the language, their education etc. Their personal beliefs, attitude, motivation, and cognitive capacity etc are ma rked to be a basic factor determining the issues of language, just to name a few(Abdullah, 2015). In this context the examination of seeing whether a student is well equipped with the language requires the test of language from the listening, writing, reading and speaking point of views which in case makes it a problem for students to talk in English.(Wahid, 2000). Meanwhile, Rajab (2012) identified linguistic factor, cultural and the curricular content as possible contributing factors of reading anxiety(Rajab, 2012). Matt Daud (2005), on the other hand, found their student respondents suffered writing anxiety due to lack of writing skills. All in all, these researchers findings pointed to the fact. Then again, Oxford (1999) additionally proposed the reasons for language anxiety range from profoundly individual to procedural and records the accompanying reasons for language anxiety: self-regard, resilience of vagueness, danger taking, aggressiveness, social anxiety, test anxiety, ch aracter and social stun, convictions, classroom exercises and techniques, and educator students' cooperations. Taking into account the two specialists' study. The cross examination could have been done to see the similar experiences felt by the students. At the end of the day, this study may concentrate on language anxiety from the students' viewpoint(Chicago, 2013). The need is for students and teachers to take the study and teaching sessions free like conversation and make the students aware they are free to make mistakes and they wont be judged. There have been examinations and research to evaluate that many students feel extremely shy or anxious in using English in class and therefore skip using the language with the fear of making mistakes. The need is for students to open up and equip themselves with courage and use the language freely (Brown, 2001). Adopting a new language is never easy and it takes practice and consistent trials to get the aspects of the language right but w ithout trying anyone would be able to overcome the fear of making mistakes. It is the duty of the educators at college school and universities to keep extra guidance for students who are not well versed with using English. The anxiety issue among students is needed to be done so that they can participate freely and cross the language barrier. Kondo and Ling (2004) placed a typology of techniques that students use to adapt to the anxiety they involvement in English language classrooms. It can be said that taking some simple measures like taking a deep breath, making the mind calm and taking part with students who are facing similar difficulty. In any case, regularly language teachers can help students to ease or address language anxiety by making them more mindful of their own characteristics and additionally putting accentuation on other educator related measurements, for example, the teacher's identity, teacher students' cooperation, classroom environment and instructional techniqu es(Kamaruddin, 2015). Dialog A person can attain familiarity with a language through repeated association. For English the Malaysians depend on the administration and their education system to help them grasp the foreign language, but this type of approach works for a few, does not for the others. The more the Malays associate with others (Non-Malays) the more they become habituated with the use of English as a language of communication. For the ones who have not had the privilege or the means for association with other people, the newest Economic policy New Economic Policy (NEP) was created so that a group of English learnt people were created. (Cummins, 2015) Learning English can help the Students of Sarawak immensely. There are multiple benefits of learning English for the betterment of their future. A Sarawak student finds it hard to understand the directions and study materials written in English. Learning English properly will help reduce the difficulties faced by the Sarawak students to participate in studies and make out the meanings for them. For students, especially Sarawak students participating proactively in the lectures and discussions become a problem due to their hesitation to talk in English. So, they are left out of the conversations and feel deprived while participating in classes. Also while interacting with English speaking peers and seniors and even teachers the language creates difficulties. But all these problems can be rectified when the students of Sarawak can talk properly in English and learn English. The power of English knowledge will allow them to understand the conversations and participate without hesitation . Many students of Sarawak, despite knowing English are afraid to use it or talk in English since theyre hesitant that their English pronunciations might sound odd bad it can make them sound funny. They also fear that their peers will find it amusing and make fun of them. But if these students of Sarawak are given proper training and are given training on talking in English and using English for their conversations. Learning English can heighten their scope for employment and can give them the power to get employment at a leading company. Since all large scale multinational recruiters look form employees that are fluent in English for easy communication, it can be a plus point for students of Sarawak to know English. (University, 2014). Conclusion Students of Malaysia and Philippines experience large scale problems while using English. There has been various studies that confirm that the use of the mother tongue or national language is the best for the development of studies and as well as for usage in educational systems. But in terms of future usability and the socio economic value English scores much better over the national language. The global reach for English is higher and for their global reach and usability for connecting throughout the world. Both the countries have repeatedly assessed the importance of the development of English and the national language through early education to prepare students for higher studies in English. The usage of English in higher studies will provide the students with better scope for work globally. References Abdullah, N. (2015). Language Anxiety Among University Students. Our country was built from the immigration of people from an international array of backgrounds. However, multitudes of white supremacists blame their personal as well as economic misfortunes on an abundance of ethnic groups. African-Americans, Jews and Catholics are only some of the of groups tormented by these white supremacists. As the amount of ethnic diversity gradually increased in the political systems of Louisiana and the United States, organizations rapidly formed to challenge the new ethnic variation in government. The Ku Klux Klan is one of these groups that were formed by people who were angered by the increase of diversity in political office and in the workplace. Local and state officials that were members of the Klan aided in providing influence, money, and information to the racist organization. As the civil rights movement became accepted, it seemed as if the power of racist organizations deteriorated. However, with the Klan demanding freedom of speech, with political figures related to the Ku Klux Klan still bringing prejudice to politics throughout the country, and with multitudes of African-American churches being burned to the ground, it seems as if the Ku Klux Klan is still a threat to the citizens of this country. The Ku Klux Klan has played a major role in United States history. As the south was undergoing the era of Reconstruction after the Civil War, the votes of newly emancipated black Southerners put the Republicans in power throughout the state. White Southerners resorted to brute force to preserve the white supremacy they once had. The Klan was originally arranged into secret societies that terrorized local white and black Republican leaders. They also threatened all African Americans who violated the old ideas of black inferiority. Sworn to secrecy, its members wore white robes and masks and adopted the burning cross as their symbol. The Klan members seemed to be most active during election campaigns, when they would either scare people into voting for their candidate or get rid their opponents entirely. They were noticed for their horrible acts of violence that they called nighttime rides. These attacks included murder, rape, beatings, and warnings and were designed to overcome Republican majorities in the south. Due to the fear of a race war, state officials were unable to suppress the violence. Law enforcement officials were Klan members themselves and even when the law officers were legitimate, Klan members also sat on juries where criminally accused members were often acquitted.(Harrel,47-52) The Klan was popularized through literature and film in the early nineteenth century. Its influence spread with help from Thomas B. Dixon's The Clansman (1905) and D.W. Griffith's movie The Birth of a Nation (1915). (Harrel, 85) Harrel felt that this eventually "led to the establishment of a new Ku Klux Klan, which spread throughout the nation and preached anti-Catholic, anti-Jewish, anti-black, antisocialist, and anti-labor-union Americanism" (87). Harrel stated that the Klan's two million adherents exercised great political power, "often taking the law into their own hands, mobs of white-robed, white-hooded men punished immorality and terrorized un-American elements" (88). The Klan erupted as a secret organization employing its secrecy to mislead the public and inquiring newspapers. Therefore, they were labeled the invisible empire. Harrel urges the idea that in certain regions the Klan did not have enough influence to become politically triumphant (307). "But where it was strong the Invisible Empire elected scores of local officials, state legislators, a few governors, several national representatives, including Earle B. Mayfield of Texas, William J. Harris of Georgia, and Hugo Black of Alabama, to the United States Senate." (Harrel, 307) The Klan was extremely hungry for political gain. The best way to promote the growth of an organization of this sort would be the expansion of a network with prominent political and investment resources. "The limitation of immigration, maintenance of national prohibition, restriction of the political influence of the Catholic Church and minority groups, clean government, and maintenance of community morals, were goals which violence and intimidation alone could not achieve." (Harrel, 305) It is seemed necessary that in order to have a prosperous organization, the Klan would Clara Lyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05448938493762949369noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8311205278653016994.post-89710140834662833872020-02-28T08:04:00.001-08:002020-02-28T08:04:02.336-08:00Business in europe Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 wordsBusiness in europe - Case Study Example It is home to some of the world known scholars who have made great contribution to the modern world of education. The Minoa civilization in the Crete and Mycenae civilization happened later in the mainland of Greece which emerges with Greek cities of Peninsula and spread to other parts of Europe. At the same time Greece has been able to develop a world class economy. Ti has one of the growing economies in Europe which it has been able to sustain since 1950s. There has been a major shift in the economic constant of Greek for all that time. It has shifted from agrarian economy to a technology driven economy recently. The country has developed a capitalist economy with a GDP of more the $305.595 billion as per the 2006 data. The country has diversified economic activities including tourism, shipping industry, banking, manufacturing and construction, and telecommunications. The country has also been resettled as regional hub for many developing multination companies as they try to venture in the three continents where Greek sits at a juncture. The country has been able to develop a standard economy and there has been an emerging middle class in the country. It has been raked 24th in the 2006 HDI on the quality of life index. According to the IMF, the country has a per capital income of $35,166 which has been places at the same level with other European countries like Germany, France, Italy and others.A historical review of Greece economy Since 1950, Greece stared economic reforms which were aimed at ensuring that the country developed a sustainable economic development plan. From 1950, the country began transforming its economy from an agrarian economy to service and manufacturing industry. Even if there was a slow progress in the economic performance at that time, the government was able to sustain a standard 7% economic growth rate from 1950 to 1970 which has been described as a the economic miracle of the time. At the same time, the government came up with economic policies which were aimed at attracting foreign investors in the country in order stir that economy. Government economic policy there was at the time targeting foreign investors, state intervened in the economic planning and the growth too of tourism. The tourism sector became a major player in the economic growth of the nation. After three decades of economic miracle the economy again stagnated in 1979 and since then it has been struggling to resume it earlier growth without necessarily causing increased inflation rate. The next couple of days were a time to observe the patients reacting from the different procedures to keep her alive. But the baby got worse and even developed subclinical seizures on continuous encephalagram and was decided to be placed under a pentabarb coma. After a week, physicians attending to the baby saw progress because of adjusted medicines and a more positive eeg results. The team of physicians attending to baby AB decided based on the positive results of the eeg and brought the baby out of the coma. During the patients rest towards recovery in the open heart unit, the neuro and airway status was continuously monitored. One realization during the case is that the patientââ¬â¢s family is another set of patients to be looked upon. Baby AB, given her sensitive and delicate case must be given all the necessary attention and care. The family must is taught of the feeding techniques through g-tube and how to monitor the signs of seizure and respiratory distress of baby AB. Fortunately the family has a very strong faith and believed in the approach if giving utmost importance to baby ABââ¬â¢s condition. Philosophical underpinnings of the human becoming theory Palliative care focuses on quality of life and the life of both the patient and his or her family. Given the sensitivity and serious condition of the patient, giving care to the patient does not only rely on the attending physicians and nurses on the case. But rather the medical team must also encourage support and assistance to the family who will be taking care of the patient and giving their 24 hours care for the patient. In relation with the case specified about, the theory under study that analyzes and is connected with this case is Parse's human becoming theory which focus on the humanly experiences of health that constitutes a process of becoming one with the universe and other entities in it. Parse's human becoming theory has its roots used as a nursing theory in the continental human science tradition. As a resolved theory that uses Parse's own experiences as a nurse, influence of Roger's conceptual system of nursing, and other tenets of existential phenomenology, the theory provides a theoretical system that explains how human beings is viewed as the expert and knowledgeable of his or her own health. The human becoming theory is an alternative theory that is presented by both conventional bio-medical approaches with biological, psychoanalytical, social and spiritual aspects. The theory focuses the personal quality of life as a goal in the nursing practice. The assumptions of this theory were synthesized from the works by European philosophers, Heidegger, Sarte and Marleau- Ponty together with American nurse theories influenced by Rogers.(Cody) Concepts and propositions of the theory The human becoming theory has three main themes or concepts. The first one is meaning. Meaning being the first principle of the theory relates that structuring multidimensional meanings is co- creating reality through the expression of value and image.(Parse, 1998) To simplify this concept, there is the principle that people participates in creating what is real for them through choices and self-expression of the values in their life and how they will implement the Clara Lyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05448938493762949369noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8311205278653016994.post-44459797490720847142020-01-31T14:45:00.001-08:002020-01-31T14:45:03.606-08:00Facilities Planning Essay Example for Free Facilities Planning Essay * To understand the basic fundamentals and importance of Facilities as applied in the Small or Medium-Scale Manufacturing industries * To understand and apply the concepts of product and process design in terms of MANUFACTURING * To develop alternative materials in to yield cost-reduction and productivity * To understand and apply the concepts of evaluating, selecting, preparing, presenting, implementing and maintaining the workplace and formulate preventions and propose improvements. * To conduct improvements in product mix and design; processing and materials technology; handling, storage, and control technology; production volumes, schedules, and routings, and Management philosophies. * To come up with assessment, findings, analyses and recommendations on how to quickly respond to varying customer requirements. * To propose changes whether in the process, methods, or materials with the end view of improving the reduction of work-in-process and just-in-time manufacturing REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE Machines Can Only Produce as Efficiently as the People Who Operate Them Summary: U.S. manufacturers are making a strong effort to gain back some of the consumer loyalty lost to their foreign competitors, who since the late 70s have been offering American consumers higher quality products at lower costs. U.S. companies believed that foreign competitors were able to achieve more efficient production through technological advances, when in fact the competition abroad was actually achieving increased production by relying on more productive people, not machines. Addressing this misconception, U.S. manufacturers have begun to concentrate efforts on making people more productive and machines more user friendly. Manufacturers are beginning to realize the best way to improve quality and increase efficiency is through better training and more informed operators. A person who is given a clear directionà ¯Ã ¿Ã ½ as to what the corporate objectives are for his or her function, as well as responsibility and authority, will produce a far superior product than a person who has no ownership in their job. There is no one better equipped to improve a process than the person working closest to it. Modernizations have reduced the overall number of machine operators, a greater majority of those remaining are being asked to take a more responsible and participatory role in the manufacturing control process. Rather than being blindly driven by new manufacturing technologies, companies are demanding better ways for operators to interact with their machines or processes. Operators are being asked to become managers, to be more involved in the decision-making process, they are being trained to use tools designed to determine whether the manufacturing process will result in a quality product. Effectively operators need fast access to accurate data. Since the operator workstation is at the heart of each manufacturing information system, the concentration has been to make workstations more responsive. Operators are demanding higher levels of information presentation in their workstations, so design engineers have been forced to seek technology that not only allows for a more sophisticated display of information, but also permits the operator to act on the information quickly, accurately and easily. The demand for increased productivity and efficiency on the plant floor has prompted factory floor automation suppliers to develop more open relationships to identify effective methods of integrating new technology into the production process. Suppliers are beginning to realize the advantages of sharing their proprietary design information. While there is a risk associated with releasing technological information, the benefit to suppliers working cooperatively to give operators the tools they need to be more productive is increased market share domestically and worldwide. As we strive to deliver more information to the factory floor in less time through advances in computer technology, we should never forget that our most sophisticated technologies must eventually flow through the hands of a single operator. Thats why companies are devoting resources to bringing products to market which make the connection between man and machine easier, faster and better. COMPANY BACKGROUND The Rotessas Garment was owned by Mr. Rogelio Habacon Sr. The operation started at the year 2003. They found out that the demand of denims or known as pants can be a good business. They sub contract the different kinds of pants like Diesel, Guess, Nafnaf, Abercrombie and many more. As of now their main client was the Swan Lake which is responsible for distributing in the market. According to Mr. Rogelio Cu Sr., the assistant, being in the garment business is hard to manage. You really have to put more attention to be able to have a large profit. One of the main problems they are encountering was the sewers. They must be trained properly and there must be discipline. They generate waste from the time on hand (waiting), distribution and processing of garments. By assessing the companys workplace the team found out that these problems were generated due to the lack of workers performance, the equipment being used, material handling and transportation techniques. Since cutting, sewing, and pressing of buttons are involve in the operation, handling of materials play an important role. Work done causes difficulty since the method of work is time-consuming. Signs are situated at the left area of the vicinity. It is posted on the wall where some workers cant see. Because of this, some workers forgot to follow proper procedures and policies inside the building. This creates difficulty with respect to the processing sequence of the industry. We have observed that the operation in the shop environment is manual creating complexity with the tasks being utilized by the workers. There is an improper placement of raw materials and poor layout of the orderly flows of material, equipment, people and information. We can say that the equipments being used are over-depreciated, which can no longer be used to utilize production effectively. The reason why poor equipments are present is because of improper maintenance of equipment. Tools like scissors, cutters and screwdrivers are not properly secured. This happens because there are on policies that involve good handling of equipment. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY The following objectives of this study should be considered: * Create an environment that results in the production of high-quality products * Provide planned and orderly flows of material, equipment, people and information * Design a layout and material handling system that can be easily adapted to changes in product mix and production volumes * Reduce work-in-process and provide controlled flow and storage of materials * Reduce material handling at and between workstations * Utilize space most effectively, considering overhead space and impediments to cross traffic SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY This study focuses on the methods, layout and processes used in the Garment industry. We limit our scope within the product mix and design; processing and materials technology; handling, storage, and control technology; production volumes, schedules and routings; and management philosophies. All the data collected in this study must meet the requirements stated in the objective of the study. However, each study has its limitations that will be discussed below. * Inflexible in the number of products manufactured * Improper labeling, storage and arrangement of materials * Inflexible layout * Large deviation in production rates in case of equipment failure in the line * Waste arising from unnecessary motion (unlikely event) * Waste arising from producing defective products * Waste arising from transporting * Waste arising from processing itself * Waste arising from unnecessary stock on hand DESCRIPTION OF THE OPERATION STEPS IN MAKING PANTS DRAFTING PATTERN MAKING CUTTING CODING SEWING 1. We will focus on the significant few problems of the company however, we will still propose an improved plan for the trivial many after payback period of the first investment in order to fully utilize production rates effectively. The reason behind this is because the company does not have enough funds to support the entire plan that will be proposed. After saving enough money from the minimization of the top problems, the company will implement the entire plan that will be proposed. Identifying the reasons of the impact on the facilities design function, the researchers surveyed the reasons of such event. The survey resulted as follows: CONCLUSION We design a plan in order to solve the significant few problem of the company. This program is designed to provide the smoothest flow of materials, achieve flexibility, improve quality, increase productivity and space utilization, and simultaneously reduce facilities and operating costs. The following trends can be utilized: * Eliminate or minimize non-value-adding activities * Simultaneously use Material Handling * Improve design * Proper storage and arrangement of materials * Anticipate unlikely events * Proper labeling * Need for test/ inspection * Ergonomic orientation * Minimize the use of time and space resources * Manufacture in the shortest cycle time possible * Stockless production * Material as needed and required * Continuous-flow manufacturing * Zero-inventory production systems In conclusion, we recommend this plan that we designed to improve the performance of the company and to improve the impact of the facilities design function. The continued trend toward just-in-time manufacturing puts the material handling and layout functions to the front line. By designing and implementing the plan we were able to meet out objective and creates the essence of the material handling function by 50%. The following elements will be further discussed: * Right Amount How much inventory is needed? What is needed? What is not anticipated? * Right Material Simplifying the parts numbering system and maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the database system are more fundamental tasks * Right Sequence Eliminate unnecessary operations or improving those that remain. * Right Orientation Means positioning the material for ease of handling * Right Place Addresses both transportation and storage. It is desirable to directly transport material to the point of use rather than store the material at some intermediate location. * Right Time It means on-time delivery. The goal is to develop a material handling system that will result in lower production cycle times, and not to lower material handling delivery times. * Right Cost To design the most efficient material handling systems at the most reasonable cost. This would entail the lowest possible cost that can be acquired from the From-To Chart. * Right Method Using more than one method is generally the right thing to do Clara Lyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05448938493762949369noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8311205278653016994.post-89111784049463440082020-01-23T11:09:00.001-08:002020-01-23T11:09:03.121-08:00Essays -- Beyond the Bible, written by Howard Marshall, is a compilation of essays that seek to propose a biblically sound way to move from biblical text to doctrine and application. Marshall believes that if one is going to move ââ¬Å"beyond the bible,â⬠they must do so ââ¬Å"biblically.â⬠A concern for Marshall is also how to properly apply scripture to controversial matters in the church today. The book includes more than just Marshallââ¬â¢s work, but essays written by Kevin Vanhoozer and Stanley Porter as well, which backs the idea that hermeneutics should be a discussion, not a solo speech. In Marshallââ¬â¢s first essay, ââ¬ËEvangelicals and Hermeneutics,ââ¬â¢ he summarizes the state of evangelical theology in relation to hermeneutics. Marshall describes how over the past thirty years, evangelical scholars have come to appreciate hermeneutics more than ever before. Evangelical scholars now grasp and explore hermeneutical concerns at all levels of study: general hermeneutics, exegesis, as well as exposition and application. Marshall states that while examining an authorââ¬â¢s intent is important, it overlooks the question of sensus plenior, the workââ¬â¢s deeper meaning intended by God, not necessarily by the human author. In Marshallââ¬â¢s second essay, ââ¬ËThe Development of Doctrine,ââ¬â¢ he identifies two approaches to biblical interpretation, conservative and progressive. Marshall witnessed a need for greater clarity in regards to worship practices, principles, and theology due to the varying opinions among evangelical interpreters. Marshall mentions, ââ¬Å"It is especially the duty of evangelical Christians to provide some kind of reasoned, principled approach to the question of the development of doctrine from Scriptureâ⬠(Marshall 45). Marshallââ¬â¢s third essay, ââ¬ËThe Search for Bi... ...ques approaches based on the historical-critical method, the speech-act theory, and the approach of Wittgenstein. Porterââ¬â¢s view is that Paul, himself, had his own opinions on Jesus, God, and Christianity overall. Porter suggests using the translation theory when looking to go beyond the bible. He believes one should carefully examine the core of what is being said in scripture, and then translate it into todayââ¬â¢s language. Beyond the Bible is full of useful insights regarding how to apply scripture to doctrine and everyday life. Marshall, Vanhoozer, and Porter are all well-educated theologians. How to faithfully apply Scripture to everyday life is not conclusively agreed upon and laid out in this book, but it pushes readers to think about biblical interpretation in new ways. As mentioned earlier, hermeneutics is meant to be an on-going discussion, not a solo speech. In the geranium, the main character, Marney is a stay at home mother. She cleans intensely all day and seems rather dull. She does not leave the house even when one of the girls tells her to ââ¬Å"come for a stretch. â⬠You know she is hesitant and you can feel that there is something stopping her from leaving. There seems to be a routine of non-stop cleaning, because when her friends, Sandra and Joe, come over this doesn't stop her from making sure things are clean, she even sets down paper to stop the floor getting dirty again. Her life is so boring that the highlight of her week is the arrival of the ââ¬Å"paper that came on a Wednesday. â⬠The paper is a widow to the outside world that she is no longer able to access. Although the paper shows her all kinds of things she could do and clubs she could enter, she canââ¬â¢t because of a mental block built up by the continuous abuse from Bob. The conflict becomes more clear with the return of Bob her husband. When Bob comes home he immediately starts demands what she has been doing all day. He asks questions about whether sheââ¬â¢s been digging and cleaning and whoââ¬â¢s been over. He is so controlling that he has to know ever little detail to make sure he does not ââ¬Å"find out different. â⬠When he finds out about ââ¬Å"The Geraniumâ⬠he tells her to ââ¬Å"chuck that thing out. â⬠This is a clear demonstration of his control, because Marney throws it away without question even though earlier we see that she really wanted it. These demonstrations of Bobââ¬â¢s dominance show us the reason for Marneyââ¬â¢s resistance to leave for the shops earlier and why she finds the housework so important. The conflict is resolved when Marney throws out the Geranium at Bobââ¬â¢s command. This part of the story is significant because it is Marneyââ¬â¢s chance to stand up for something she wants. We see earlier in the story that the Geranium is something that she has wanted; it is something to bring some colour into her dull, boring, grey life. A bit of change to brighten her days. But she is damaged from her abuse, and shows she has no freewill. Immediately faltering under Bobââ¬â¢s orders she ââ¬Å"put it into [a] scrap bucketâ⬠as if it was of little matter to her. The ââ¬Å"sink emptyingâ⬠is her life being drained away. She watches as her life is taken away from here, because she was unable to speak up. She has let her chance slip away and has been doomed to the same dull days. I think the ideas that Patricia Grace is trying to get across is that; domestic violence isnââ¬â¢t all physical, that it can happen very much behind the scenes and the ways in which it can affect people. Although we get hints that Marney is physically abused such as; when Grace mentions that Marney ââ¬Å"would put on her cardigan to hide her arm,â⬠and when Bob grips her arm until it hurts, we never actually get any evidence of serious physical abuse. When the Sandra and Joe come over they dress Bob up as an amazing guy compared to their drunkard partners. Bob always has the groceries, and doesnââ¬â¢t come home drunk all the time. But behind the scenes he is very different from the picture the girls have made. He is threatening towards Marney and extremely controlling. He has scared into such an intense routine that she is no longer able to change that routine and is stuck to doing whatever he wants her to. This shows us that domestic violence can occur without the knowledge of the people that surrounding. Grace has showed us the way abuse can affect someone through the way Marney is. She has been so controlled by Bob that she can no longer even think for herself. She has ââ¬ËBattered Woman Syndromeââ¬â¢ and is completely under his control that she can not even reach out for help. These effects of her abuse show us how badly the aftermath of abuse affect someone just as bad as the abuse itself. The thing that I didnââ¬â¢t enjoy about this story is the style of writing. It is written in a boring way to emphasis the way Marneyââ¬â¢s life is, and although it serves the purpose it left me feeling uninterested. What I did like the storyline. The way in which the conflict developed. I liked the way it starts off with what seems like Marney going about a normal day and then it turns into a day that that brings forth all her abuse and problems. Mainly starting with the arrival of her friends. These developments give us a great insight into a day in the life of Marney. And it is not a pretty picture. Hypothesis: Katherine Mansfield strongly emphasised prejudice and class distinction within her writing (The Garden Party and The Dollââ¬â¢s House) which was influenced from her upbringing and childhood Katherine Mansfield was a 1900ââ¬â¢s modernist writer of short fiction who was born and raised in a socially prominent family in Wellington, New Zealand. Much of her work was strongly themed around issues such as classism, a woman s place in society, sexuality, adulthood and also grief. The central theme in Katherine Mansfieldââ¬â¢s stories The Dollââ¬â¢s House and The Garden Party centres around the issue of cruelty of class distinctions. After reading and studying Katherine Mansfieldââ¬â¢s late short stories, The Garden Party and The Dollââ¬â¢s House, I have concluded that Mansfield strongly emphasised prejudice and class distinction within her writing which was influenced from her upbringing and childhood. While analysing different critics opinions on Mansfieldââ¬â¢s overarching theme in both The Dollââ¬â¢s house and The Garden Party to convey the issue of class distinctions and preconceived prejudice, I found many supportive pieces of evidence and discovered that both critics I studied shared similar ideas in relation to my initial hypothesis. The two main critics that I studied were that of Rebecca Richardson (2005) and Jayne Marek. These critics showed insight into the influence of her writing and her views on distinctions and prejudice in social classes. (Daniels, Radebaugh, Sullivan, 2007) Omidyarââ¬â¢s goals and objectives in designing the interface of eBay was grounded on his idea of opening the industry of market auctions to wider populations of buyers and sellers that link up through the Internet. Moreover, his idea of an online marketplace for buyers and sellers was based upon his vision of equal competition among sellers, eliminating the discrepancies on how sellers are competing in the real market structure for the purpose of attracting the attention of buyers and overpowering their competitors. We will write a custom essay sample on eBay: The Global Strategy or any similar topic only for you Order Now For Omidyar, eBay balances the playing field for all sellers and provides equal opportunities of purchase for the buyers. (Gopalkrishnan Gupta, N. D. ) Although Omidyar was able to eliminate the competition within the virtual sphere of eBay, eBay Inc. was experiencing the surge of competition from other virtual commercial establishments that were designed under the same framework of eBayââ¬â¢s market auction. In addition, eBay, as a business organization, needed to cope with the challenges of the globalization, thus, the development of strong and stable globalization strategy for eBay as supported by its core competency and its configured and coordinated value chain. (Daniels, Radebaugh, Sullivan, 2007) The core competencies of eBay constitute the unique platform or design of eBay as an online marketplace that sets it apart from other virtual business organizations establishing its competitive advantage in terms of services or offerings, eBayââ¬â¢s valuing of establishing trust among its clients and assuring the safety and security of being involved in online auctions facilitated by the organization, the value or significance that eBay grants market efficiency, and one of the primary goals of eBay to establish partnerships with other organizations to foster network benefits and productivity. Daniels, Radebaugh, Sullivan, 2007) These core competencies have established some of the strategies that eBay has implemented over the years in order to obtain competitive advantage and fulfill the goals and objectives of the organization. Perhaps the most successful strategy which has helped sustain the growth and development of eBay was its opening of services of an online open market for everyone who needs to tie up with the platform of eBay in order to sell or buy goods or products from different parts of the world. This has widened the client base of eBay, realizing one of its core competencies, that is its uniqueness in being able to establish a marketplace that is open to all despite the distance. (Gopalkrishnan Gupta, N. D. ) In addition, according to a report released by eBay in 2006 in order to discuss its global strategies for continued growth and development of the business, through its acquisitions of other organizations, such as PayPal (eBay, 2009a), and its development of other virtual services that assist in the facilitation of services provided by eBay. Some of these services include Skype which is a communication tool that buyers and sellers around the world may use to communicate. eBay has also realized that in order to uphold its core competency of market efficiency, it needed to implement a multi-branding strategy to capture a larger market population. This was accomplished through its development of Shopping. om and other Marketplaces such as eBay stores, ProStores, and such. (eBay, 2009b) Reviewing the value chain configuration and coordination of eBay, the decision to structure this particular system was motivated by the platform of eBay considering what drives the business ââ¬â that is, the buyers and the sellers ââ¬â and the processes that facilitate business practices and operations. Apparently, the value chain model of eBay constitutes five tiers of factors or features, starting from the legal aspect of the business, to its management of finances, the human capital of the organization, the technical department of the organization which keeps eBay up and running online, and most importantly, the process and operations involved in running eBay. This process starts with marketing, to the transfer of information from sellers to buyers, the process of auctioning products of goods, the payment, and the review of accountability and reliability of eBay and sellers to provide for the needs and demands of buyers. Schmidl, 2006) The configuration and coordination of eBayââ¬â¢s value chain was based on the logical analysis of how eBay will commence operations, especially since the organization is run by the buyers and sellers who are involved in the process of keeping organizational operations. The analysis of eBayââ¬â¢s value chain establishes the fact that it is vir tual and not real since the process of marketing up until peer reviews is completed online. From marketing eBay, to the transfer of information and facilitation of communication between buyers and sellers, the auction and payment process, until the peer reviews regarding accountability and reliability of eBay and sellers, is done through online tools and applications that constitute the platform of eBay. Perhaps this is one of the many reasons why the particular process identified as eBayââ¬â¢s value chain adds value and advantage to eBay, since it is able to provide services virtually to global networks without offering problems and difficulties to buyers and sellers. The analysis of eBayââ¬â¢s core competencies, strategies, and its value chain proves that they are no different from what eBay has implemented ten years ago. Until today, the strategies employed by eBay are based on its mission of providing an online open market for everyone ââ¬â to buyers and sellers ââ¬â eliminating competition and the challenges that constitute to the establishment of concrete business establishments that operate in the same manner. eBay has made it easy for individuals to operate a business and purchase specific goods or products. However, eBay has to continue in developing its platform if it hopes to grow in the following years, based on the threats and challenges posed by some issues that eBay clearly needs to addressed as mentioned by Daniels, Radebaugh, and Sullivan (2007). These challenges suggests that eBay should be able to raise its cultural sensitivity, addressing the problem of language barriers, the implementation of legal laws and policies to regulate overall eBay operations, and its modification of its virtual value chain, applying concepts of real value chain in order to address the digital divide.
